Fremont County Group Homes Rural Host Program

In October of 2008, Fremont County Group Homes received a grant to establish the Rural Host Home Program in the Shoshoni and Dubois areas. The purpose of this grant is to bring services into these rural towns in Fremont County. The Rural Host Home program provides shelter, mediation and/or counseling services for youth and families who are facing difficult or crisis situations.  Youth between the ages of 10-18 can utilize selected local homes for short term crisis situations and/or receive counseling free of charge.  Our goals for youth using our program are:
  1. to alleviate the immediate problems of runaway and homeless youth.
  2. to reunite youth with their families whenever possible and to encourage the resolution of family problems through counseling or other services.
  3. to strengthen family relationships and encourage stable relationships and living conditions for youth.
  4. to help youth decide upon a constructive course of action.
  5. to deliver services to youth and families from a positive youth development framework and philosophy as adopted by Fremont County Group Homes.
Safe PlaceIn December 2009, the FCGH opened the first Safe Place sites in Wyoming in Shoshoni and Dubois. In Dubois, the Dubois Youth Activity Center and Stagecoach Motor Inn are now designated Safe Place sites. In Shoshoni, the Town Hall and the Shoshoni Recreation District are Safe Place sites. Safe Place is the outreach program of the Fremont County Group Homes and is designed to reach out to youths under the age of 18 who find themselves in crisis situations needing immediate help. These problems may range from peer pressure to abuse. Once a youth goes into a Safe Place site, the management makes sure he or she is physically okay and calls the Fremont County Group Homes. The Group Home then contacts a trained volunteer who will go to the Safe Place site and work directly with the youth. The volunteer then determines what services may be needed by the youth. This program is designed to support youth in need and their families.
